Every year on the last week of June Pezance celebrates Mazey day.
Mazey day is a nonsense name and was made up for the celebrations of Golowan. Nevertheless Mazey day has become a household name throughout west Cornwall and notably Penwith.
Mazey day forms part of the summer celebrations of Golowan. Traditionally Mazey day sees street parades, entertainers, stalls and lots more in a carnival type atmosphere.
Penzance, the host town is rammed packed with visiting people and the streets swell to accommodate the extra people. Frankly it is worth while to take stock of this if you are planning a visit to Penzance on Mazey day. Small children, small dogs and prams or pushchairs will be a problem for you. That said there are always plenty of marshals on duty that are more than happy to help you if you need it.
